First Blog!
I must say, I have never personally held my own blog, therefore, this has taken me a while to set up and get going on. I feel, however, that I am going to like blogging, because I enjoy expressing my thoughts in the form of writing. So far, I am thoroughly enjoying this course, because I find it fascinating to study the work of one man's writing. Mark Twain has written many pieces of literature that I have never heard of before! I think that it is really great to be able to get into the mind of Mr. Mark Twain, and discover what exactly made him tick. I feel as thought we could spend an entire year learning more about who he was as a person, and why he wrote certain pieces of literature. One issue that I am very interested in is how Mark Twain viewed the church. I am excited to dive deeper into the his texts about the Bible, and see what he thought about it. I find him to be a very intriguing man, and this course is going to be a great one to understand him better!

Hi Melissa, Thanks for the good first post. Blogging is a good way of sharing thoughts, and your blog can be as fancy as you want to make it. I am glad you have started up your blog. I am also looking forward to our semester. MT was a man of his time, and in learning about him we will learn a lot about the nineteenth century, both a tragic and miraculous time (like our own). MT overall has no consistent thoughts about religion and faith. A devout believer in his own eccentric way, but also someone definitely opposed to rigid orthodoxies--and Sunday Schools. I look forward to reading more your posts. dw
